Here we go. First in a series of videos repairing the SL and getting it ready for the 2020 season.
What started out as a simple replacement of a belt tensioner / belt / fan clutch quickly became a disaster. Broken bolts, cross-threaded nightmares and missing parts. In the normal world, we’re takling a 30 minute repair. Just my luck…
Then again, with all the bits and pieces out of the way, I might as well make use of the time and space and get some more work done in there. 20-odd years of grease and grime can be steam-cleaned away and there are other bits and pieces I can replace while I’m in there at the front of the engine.
Here’s a list of everything that needs done, in no particular order: new battery / new brakes / oil change / motor mounts / gearbox mount / exhaust sytem / air conditioning condenser / air conditioning refill / steering fluid flush / coolant flush / water pump / air filter / cabin filter / seat repair / interior lighting / new tyres / paint correction (or even respray)…
That’s quite a list…
